Joshua Locks Fury Bout, Eyes July Return

Anthony Joshua has signed a deal to face long-time rival Tyson Fury later this year, paving the way for one of boxing’s most anticipated heavyweight clashes.

The agreement was confirmed by promoter Eddie Hearn, who announced on social media: “Signed, sealed and delivered! AJ vs Fury is on!”

Ahead of the blockbuster bout, Joshua is scheduled to return to the ring on July 25, 2026, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he will face Kristian Prenga. The fight is expected to serve as a tune-up as he prepares for the high-profile encounter with Fury.

Hearn described the July contest as a crucial step in Joshua’s comeback following a brief break from the sport. The 36-year-old last fought in December 2025, when he recorded a knockout victory over Jake Paul.

Joshua had stepped away from boxing after a tragic car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two close associates, although he survived with minor injuries.

His upcoming opponent, Prenga, is regarded for his knockout power and holds a solid record, but has yet to face an opponent of Joshua’s calibre.

The Riyadh fight forms part of a broader plan to rebuild Joshua’s momentum in the heavyweight division ahead of the long-awaited “Battle of Britain” against Fury a matchup that has eluded fans for years despite repeated negotiations.

With both camps now aligned, attention turns to whether the highly anticipated showdown will finally take place before the end of 2026.
