Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Claims Attacks on U.S. Bases Across Gulf Region

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Wednesday that it carried out coordinated attacks on U.S. military installations in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, describing the operations as retaliation for recent American strikes on Iranian targets along the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement carried by Iranian state media, the IRGC said it launched drone attacks against the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait. The group also claimed responsibility for a long-range missile strike targeting an air base in Azraq, Jordan.

According to the statement, Iranian forces targeted 21 U.S. military assets and successfully destroyed four of them, including what it described as an F-35 fighter jet hangar at the Jordanian facility.

The IRGC further claimed that its air defenses shot down a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone over the southern Iranian city of Jam.

The escalation follows U.S. military strikes on Qeshm Island and other facilities along Iran’s coast near the Strait of Hormuz. Washington reportedly carried out the attacks after accusing Iran of being responsible for the downing of a U.S. Apache helicopter earlier on Tuesday.

Iranian officials said the American strikes caused damage to civilian infrastructure, including a telecommunications tower in the town of Sirik and two water storage tanks.

In its statement, the IRGC warned that Iranian forces remain prepared to respond forcefully to any further military action by the United States.

“The armed forces of the Islamic Republic are fully prepared to deliver a crushing and decisive response to any aggression,” the statement said, adding that Washington would bear full responsibility for any further escalation in the conflict.

U.S. officials had not immediately commented on the Iranian claims, and the reported attacks could not be independently verified.

The latest exchange marks a significant escalation in tensions between Washington and Tehran, raising concerns about the potential for broader instability across the Gulf region and key international shipping routes.
