Insecurity: Yari Warns Nigerians Against Seeking Trump’s Intervention

Senator Abdulaziz Yari, representing Zamfara West, has urged Nigerians to stop seeking intervention from U.S. President Donald Trump in resolving the country’s security challenges, insisting that only Nigerians can fix the nation’s problems.

Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja at the flag-off of the One Nigeria Project organised by the National Association of Former Local Government Council Chairmen (NALGON), Yari said growing frustration over insecurity has pushed some citizens toward the belief that external help is the answer.

His words: “Stop calling on Trump. Trump has no business in Nigeria. The problems of Nigeria will be solved by Nigerians.”

Yari described the mindset of relying on outsiders as “misguided and dangerous,” stressing that the political elite must take responsibility to prevent the country from “going down.” He warned that if the system collapses, there would be no other home for Nigerians to run to.

The senator noted that he carries only a Nigerian passport, unlike some elites who, he claimed, place higher priority on foreign nations than their own.

Yari also called for greater autonomy and improved funding for local governments, arguing that local councils are closest to the people and best positioned to tackle insecurity at its roots.
