IGP Intensifies Fight Against Cultism, Social Vices

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has launched a nationwide campaign aimed at combating cultism, drug abuse and other social vices through community-based prevention and public sensitisation.

The initiative, known as the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), will be implemented across all State Police Commands as part of efforts to curb youth involvement in crime and strengthen preventive policing.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, said the campaign is designed to address cultism, violent crime, drug abuse and related social vices through grassroots awareness, early intervention and sustained community engagement.

According to the police spokesperson, POCACOV will work closely with schools, communities, religious organisations and other stakeholders to promote positive values, steer young people away from criminal influences and build safer communities across the country.

The Nigeria Police Force said the initiative reflects the IGP’s commitment to tackling crime through proactive measures that prioritise prevention, public participation and youth development.
