Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tunji Disu has appointed Anietie Iniedu as the new Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
The appointment was announced on Friday in a statement issued by the outgoing Force spokesman, Anthony Placid, who described Iniedu as an experienced police officer with a strong background in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, administration, and institutional accountability.
A native of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Iniedu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo. He has also undergone several professional trainings in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, intelligence analysis, strategic communication, and human rights-based policing.
He succeeds Anthony Placid, who was appointed Force Public Relations Officer in March 2026.
Before his elevation, Iniedu served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he oversaw public complaint management and spearheaded initiatives aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the police.
He has previously served as Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology in Kobape, Ogun State, and held several operational and administrative roles across the country.
His previous assignments include Operations Officer at Maisandari Division in Yobe State, Area Crime Officer at Umuahia Area Command in Abia State, Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat, Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa, and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room, where he coordinated nationwide crime and security information.
According to the statement, IGP Disu expressed confidence in Iniedu’s ability to lead the Force Public Relations Department, noting that his experience and professional expertise would strengthen the Nigeria Police Force’s communication strategy, public engagement efforts, and ongoing policing reforms.
