Governor Yusuf Denies N2bn Diversion Allegation, Defends Kwankwaso’s Integrity

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has dismissed allegations by former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, accusing the administration of diverting N2 billion from local government funds. Speaking at a meeting with 484 elected ward councillors at the Government House on Sunday, Yusuf described the claims as false and baseless.

Defending his administration and political mentor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Yusuf said, “We thank God that our government is clean from top to bottom. No thief can be comfortable among us, and the funds entrusted to us have been used judiciously.”

He criticized Bichi, saying, “It’s surprising to hear wild claims from someone who was brought into this government and supported with a powerful position. He now says this administration has stolen ten times more than Ganduje’s government and claims our leader demands N2 billion monthly. These are lies. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is a man of integrity, and the people of Kano are proud of him.”

Governor Yusuf urged critics to focus on policies and performance rather than personal attacks, adding, “No true Kano indigene would stoop so low as to insult our leaders and spread falsehoods.”

Daily Trust reports that Bichi recently accused the Yusuf-led government of misappropriating public funds and alleged that Kwankwaso was receiving illicit payments from the administration monthly.
