Gov. Nwifuru Reinstates Officials, Issues Political Warning

Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has approved the recall of all suspended government officials, except those from the Ministry of Lands whose cases are still under investigation.

The governor announced the decision on Sunday during a church service marking the 2026 Father’s Day celebration at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki, according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor.

“I want to use this opportunity to also thank our workers for their unflinching support to our government, and to reciprocate this gesture I have decided to honour the workers by recalling all government officials who were suspended for one reason or the other except those from the Ministry of Lands whose cases are still under investigation,” Nwifuru said.

He also expressed concern over some appointees who publicly declared interest in contesting elections without seeking approval, describing such actions as disrespectful to constituted authority.

Speaking on the significance of Father’s Day, the governor congratulated men, describing them as the “pillar and backbone of the family and society.” He noted that the occasion offers an opportunity to reflect on the responsibilities of fathers as leaders in both the home and the community.

Nwifuru commended men for their commitment to faith, family, and societal development, urging them to continue upholding values such as integrity, sacrifice, and service.

He added that his administration remains committed to creating an enabling environment for families to thrive through its People’s Charter of Needs agenda, while encouraging unity, discipline, and moral responsibility across society.
