The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adelabu Adedeji, has announced that he will not be contesting the Oyo State governorship election in 2027.
Adedeji, a former Commissioner for Finance in Oyo State and an influential political figure, made this clear during a public appearance, emphasizing his commitment to his current role.
“I want to use this opportunity to address numerous requests. I, Zacch Adedeji, will not contest the governorship election in 2027,” he said.
Acknowledging the potential disappointment this might cause some of his supporters, Adedeji explained that his focus remains on fulfilling the responsibilities of his current position.
“Everyone is aware of the responsibility and grace God has bestowed upon us. I was the commissioner of finance 14 years ago. God has already given us the platform to contribute to the state, and now I need your prayers for the strength to complete my current assignment without distractions,” he added.
Adedeji’s decision underscores his dedication to delivering on his mandate as FIRS chairman, with a clear intent to avoid distractions associated with political campaigns.
