FG Committed To Reforming Basic Education Sector

Education Minister, Prof Tahir Mamman, declares the imminent introduction of proactive measures by the Federal Government to overhaul the basic education sector.

The announcement was made during a courtesy visit to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa in Yola on Thursday. Mamman specifies that President Bola Tinubu has directed the ministry to prioritize addressing the issue of out-of-school children, aiming to improve access to quality education and elevate standards in the sector. He seeks the support of the Adamawa government in this endeavor.

Governor Fintiri, in his response, commends the Minister for the well-timed reform and pledges complete support for the successful implementation of the program in both the state and the nation. He also expresses appreciation to the federal government for removing the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) and resolving the issue of withheld salaries for lecturers.

Fintiri further highlights his administration’s initiation of sound education reform programs, noting their significant impact in drastically reducing the challenges of out-of-school children and Almajiri syndrome in the state.
