The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved a series of major projects across industry, trade, and aviation, including the purchase of 200 electric buses, adoption of the Nigerian Industrial Policy 2025, and key upgrades to airport infrastructure nationwide.
Speaking to State House correspondents after Wednesday’s meeting, Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, John Eno, said the supply of 200 electric buses—valued at N58 billion—will be handled by the National Automotive Design and Development Council. He noted that the move would advance Nigeria’s green mobility initiatives and strengthen the local automotive sector.
Eno also announced FEC’s approval of the Nigerian Industrial Policy 2025, describing it as a crucial framework to guide industrialisation, attract development partners, and support the President’s economic diversification agenda.
The Council additionally approved the construction of a new Bank of Industry headquarters at Eko Atlantic City, Lagos, estimated at N187 billion, as well as internal and access roads within the Lekki Medical Tourism Park.
Separately, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, detailed approvals for aviation infrastructure, including:
· Continued maintenance and technical support at Aminu Kano International Airport by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC)
· Construction of modular air traffic control towers at eight airports
· Installation of aeronautical frequency spectrum monitoring and interference detection systems
· Upgrades of air-ground radio communication at nine airports, including Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, Ilorin, Maiduguri, Sokoto, and Wukari
The projects reflect the government’s commitment to modernising critical infrastructure, promoting industrial growth, and driving sustainable economic development.
