CDDN Rebukes NLC’s Allegations as Self-Serving and Misleading

Citizens for Democratic Dividends in Nigeria (CDDN) has strongly criticized the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and its president, Joe Ajaero, accusing them of misleading the public and exploiting dissatisfaction for personal benefit.

In a statement issued by its Executive Director, Comrade Ahmad Musa Idris, the CDDN dismissed the NLC’s claims of betrayal as an insult to Nigerians’ intelligence. The organization alleged that Ajaero is using these claims to deflect attention from his own alleged criminal activities and manipulate public opinion.

“Joe Ajaero’s recent claims that the government betrayed the labour movement by not implementing a N70,000 minimum wage or adjusting fuel prices are simply tactics to gain sympathy and distract from his legal issues,” the statement said.

The CDDN also criticized Ajaero and the NLC for not addressing the real challenges facing ordinary Nigerians, noting their previous lack of action during significant hardship and protests. The organization argued that focusing on a wage increase while ignoring broader issues reflects a lack of genuine concern for the people’s struggles.

The statement further accused Ajaero of trying to involve the NLC and the public in his personal legal problems, including serious allegations of treason. “Ajaero’s attempts to use the labour movement as a cover for his legal issues are clear efforts to avoid justice,” the CDDN asserted. The CDDN called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and not be misled by those seeking to exploit their difficulties for personal gain. The organization reaffirmed its dedication to justice, transparency, and democratic values for the benefit of all Nigerians.
