Anambra 2025: I’m the Only One Who Can Defeat Soludo – Ozigbo

A governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming November 2025 Anambra election, Valentine Ozigbo, has declared himself the only politician capable of unseating Governor Charles Soludo.

Speaking in an interview with Rudolf Okonkwo, Ozigbo stated that seasoned politicians in Anambra recognize his strength at the polls.

Ozigbo, a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), finished second in the 2021 governorship race, where Soludo won under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). He later joined the Labour Party (LP) to support Peter Obi’s 2023 presidential bid before moving to the APC ahead of the 2025 election.

“Real politicians in Anambra know I am the only one with the capacity to defeat Governor Soludo,” Ozigbo said.

Reflecting on his past electoral battles, he emphasized his commitment to the state and his determination to put forward his best effort.

“In 2021, I ran against Soludo, who had the full backing of the then-incumbent governor and Andy Uba, who had federal support as the APC candidate. Despite this, I finished second,” he noted.

He also highlighted his active support for Peter Obi during the 2023 general election, contrasting it with Soludo’s criticisms of the LP presidential candidate.

With his new political alignment, Ozigbo is set to challenge Soludo in what is expected to be a keenly contested race.
