Iran has executed a man convicted of providing Israel with intelligence about missile sites during the 12-day war, according to the country’s judiciary.
The judiciary-affiliated Mizan news agency identified the man as Hossein Pedaran and said he was hanged after Iran’s Supreme Court upheld his death sentence on charges of espionage and intelligence cooperation with Israel.
Iranian authorities alleged that Pedaran provided Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency with information about sensitive military facilities in the central province of Isfahan.
The judiciary also said Pedaran carried out the alleged espionage in exchange for financial compensation.
Iranian authorities did not immediately provide additional details about when Pedaran was arrested, the specific information he was accused of providing or the judicial proceedings that led to his conviction.
The execution comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and Israel and increased scrutiny by Iranian authorities of individuals accused of cooperating with Israeli intelligence.
