Chelle Names Two Super Eagles Squads for AFCON, Russia Friendly

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has announced separate squads for Nigeria’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, as well as the October friendly against Russia.

The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed the selections on Thursday, with Nigeria scheduled to face Madagascar on September 25 and Guinea-Bissau on September 29 before travelling to Russia for the October 6 friendly.

For the AFCON qualifiers, Arthur Okonkwo, Maduka Okoye and Stanley Nwabali were named as the goalkeepers.

Bruno Onyemaechi, Calvin Bassey, Olaoluwa Aina and Bright Osayi-Samuel headline the defensive options, while Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka and Raphael Onyedika feature in midfield.

Victor Osimhen leads the attack alongside Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon and Tolu Arokodare.

Chelle made several changes for the Russia fixture, with Chibuzor Atata and Samuel James joining Nwabali among the goalkeeping options.

Kelechi Iheanacho and Popoola Abdulrasaq are also included in the squad for the October 6 encounter, alongside other changes to the team.
