Bashir El-Rufai Again Threatens to ‘Destroy’ Brother Mohammed Bello

The public feud between Bashir El-Rufai and his elder brother, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, has escalated, with Bashir again threatening to “destroy” the lawmaker.

Bashir, a son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, made the latest statement on Saturday in a post on his X handle, where he also accused his brother of abusing drugs.

Mohammed Bello represents Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The precise cause of the brothers’ disagreement remains unclear, although their differing political positions, particularly regarding developments in Kaduna State, are believed to be a possible source of the tension.

In the latest exchange, Bashir wrote: “I will destroy you & climb my bed and sleep peacefully.”

The statement attracted reactions from several X users, including politician Uche Rochas, who urged Bashir to stop publicly threatening his brother.

“If you destroy your brother, no one will see you as a hero. The more you try to destroy him, the more you destroy yourself and drag your family’s name through the mud.

“If you need someone to talk to, I am here,” Rochas wrote.

Bashir replied: “Sorry sir. Had to be said.”

Another X user, Dr Ibrahim Yaji, condemned the threat, questioning how anyone could seek to destroy a sibling.

“I kept telling my friend earlier that the joke is on Bashir. I can never trust anybody who can do this to his own blood.

“Even if my sibling kills my child, I won’t destroy him like this. No, my parents didn’t bring us up this way,” Yaji wrote.

Bashir dismissed the argument, responding: “That’s you o. And I’m sure you had a good brother.”

The exchange has further intensified public scrutiny of the increasingly bitter rift between the two sons of the former Kaduna governor.
