Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat has urged chairmen of local government councils across the state to manage their increased federal allocations transparently and channel the funds into projects that directly improve the lives of residents.

Hamzat made the call on Wednesday during the commissioning of several projects executed by Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government as part of activities marking the first anniversary of the administration of its chairman, Olalekan Olu-Akindipe.

Represented by Damilola Sonayon-James, the state’s APC deputy governorship candidate, the deputy governor said the additional resources available to local governments should be invested in projects capable of delivering sustainable benefits to communities.

He urged council chairmen to develop clear plans for managing their resources, with priority given to critical sectors including infrastructure, healthcare and education.

Hamzat stressed that increased funding at the grassroots level should translate into visible development and improved living conditions for residents.
