African teams have enjoyed a historic FIFA World Cup campaign, with nine of the continent’s ten representatives advancing to the Round of 32.
The only team to miss out was Tunisia, who finished bottom of Group F without earning a single point.
Algeria became the final African nation to qualify after securing a dramatic 3-3 draw against Austria on Sunday. The result earned the Desert Warriors four points, allowing them to progress as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams after finishing behind Argentina and Austria in Group J.
The nine African countries through to the knockout stage are:
– DR Congo
– South Africa
– Ghana
– Ivory Coast
– Senegal
– Egypt
– Cape Verde
– Morocco
– Algeria
With nine teams still in contention, Africa heads into the knockout rounds with one of its strongest World Cup performances ever.
