PSG Retain UCL After Penalty Win Over Arsenal

Paris Saint-Germain have successfully defended their UEFA Champions League crown, beating Arsenal 4–3 on penalties after a tense 1–1 draw in the final played in Budapest, Hungary.

The victory secures PSG back-to-back European titles, making them the first club since Real Madrid (2016–2018) to achieve the feat.

Arsenal made a bright start to the final when Kai Havertz struck in the sixth minute, finishing a quick counterattack with a powerful finish into the roof of the net. However, PSG gradually took control of possession and pressure as the game progressed.

Their dominance eventually paid off in the second half when Ousmane Dembélé converted a penalty in the 65th minute after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was brought down in the box.

PSG came close to winning in normal time, with Kvaratskhelia hitting the post and Vitinha forcing key saves, while Arsenal’s defence led by William Saliba and Gabriel resisted sustained pressure.

After extra time failed to produce a winner, the final went to penalties.

Eberechi Eze missed Arsenal’s second spot-kick, while Gabriel later blazed his decisive penalty over the bar. PSG converted four of their kicks to clinch the shootout 4–3 and retain the trophy.

Following the match, PSG captain Marquinhos was seen consoling Gabriel in a moment of sportsmanship amid the celebrations.

PSG coach Luis Enrique described the triumph as “even bigger” than their first Champions League win, praising his team’s resilience and consistency throughout the season.

“We knew of the difficulties of playing against Arsenal… it is incredible to win it,” he said.

The French champions end the season with five trophies in total, including Ligue 1, the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, and the French domestic trophy, and will face Europa League winners Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup next season.
