ADC Sets May 25 Presidential Primary, Fixes ₦100m Nomination Fee

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released its timetable for the 2026 primary elections, scheduling its presidential primary for May 25, 2026, and pegging the nomination form at ₦100 million.

The timetable, announced in a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, outlines key activities including the sale of forms, screening of aspirants, primaries, and a special national convention.

Key Dates and Activities

·       Sale of nomination forms: May 5 – May 10, 2026

·       Submission of completed forms: May 11 – May 13, 2026

·       Screening of aspirants: May 14 – May 15, 2026

·       Publication of screening results: May 17, 2026

·       Appeals: May 18 – May 19, 2026

·       Final list of cleared aspirants: May 20, 2026

Primary Election Schedule

·       State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate: May 21, 2026

·       Governorship: May 22, 2026

·       Presidential Primary: May 25, 2026

The party added that the National Executive Committee (NEC) will meet on May 26, 2026, followed by a Special National Convention on May 27, 2026, where final ratifications will be concluded.

Nomination Fees

ADC outlined the cost of nomination forms as follows:

·       President: ₦100 million

·       Governorship: ₦50 million

·       Senate: ₦20 million

·       House of Representatives: ₦10 million

·       State House of Assembly: ₦3 million

To encourage inclusivity, the party introduced concessions, offering a 50 percent discount for youths and a 25 percent discount for women and persons with disabilities.

The ADC urged all members, stakeholders, and aspirants to strictly adhere to the approved timetable and guidelines, noting that the process reflects its commitment to internal democracy, orderliness, and compliance with electoral regulations.
