Adeboye: God Has Already Decided Nigeria’s Next President

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, has said that Nigeria’s next president ahead of the 2027 general elections has already been determined by God.

Adeboye made the remark during a workers’ meeting at Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, stressing that while political participation is important, the final outcome ultimately rests on divine will.

“The next president has already been decided by God who owns the universe. It is not something we can determine by human effort alone. The will of God will be done,” he said.

He urged Nigerians not to be overwhelmed by political tension, encouraging citizens to remain calm, prayerful and law-abiding as activities ahead of the elections begin to intensify.

“I never said we should not be involved in politics, but we must understand that God has the final say in the affairs of men,” he added.

Addressing comments by activist Omoyele Sowore, Adeboye clarified that he does not see himself as a national spiritual leader of all Christians in Nigeria. He stated that his leadership role is limited to his denomination, noting that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) serves as the umbrella body representing Christians nationwide.

“I don’t want to be the father of all Christians in Nigeria. I’m satisfied with being the father of the Redeemed Christian Church of God,” he said.

The cleric also dismissed claims linking the church to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), maintaining that the RCCG remains politically neutral and open to members of all parties.

He added that while politicians are free to attend church services, they are not permitted to use the altar as a platform for political campaigns.
