2027: Bamidele Cautions APC Members on Disloyalty

Senate Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has cautioned party members in Ekiti State against disloyalty and internal sabotage ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in Ado Ekiti during a stakeholders’ meeting of APC leaders in Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Bamidele warned that opposition parties, particularly the African Democratic Congress, are actively expanding their support base and monitoring internal divisions within the ruling party.

He said any form of fragmentation within the APC could weaken its structure and create openings for opposition recruitment, urging members to maintain unity and discipline to avoid internal “implosion.”

On the party’s primaries, Bamidele clarified that all aspirants would participate in the selection process, whether through consensus or direct primaries, in line with electoral rules. He stressed that even consensus arrangements must be formally affirmed by party members across wards.

“Everybody will face primaries, including myself,” he said, adding that opposition to consensus would automatically lead to a full primary election.

He also advised aspirants to remain loyal to the party even in the event of electoral defeat, saying political setbacks should not translate into withdrawal from party activities.

Ekiti APC Chairman Sola Elesin praised party unity in the state, describing Ekiti Central as a stronghold of stability, while assuring that the nomination process would be fair and inclusive.
