Ladi Adebutu, the 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, has formally declared his intention to contest again in the 2027 election.
Adebutu, who narrowly lost the 2023 race to incumbent governor Dapo Abiodun by 13,915 votes, made his renewed ambition known in a letter dated April 30, 2026, addressed to PDP leadership at both state and local government levels through the party’s Odogbolu chapter.
In the letter, he appreciated party leaders and members for their continued support, stressing the need for unity as the PDP prepares for the next electoral cycle.
The former House of Representatives member reaffirmed his commitment to the party’s ideals and expressed readiness to offer purposeful leadership in Ogun State, citing his long-standing involvement in strengthening the PDP.
Describing himself as a loyal and law-abiding member, Adebutu said his decision to re-contest is driven by a desire to build on past experience and deliver impactful governance.
He outlined continuity, people-focused policies, and inclusive development as central to his vision for the state, while urging stakeholders to remain united, noting that internal cohesion would be key to electoral success in 2027.
Adebutu also assured party members of his willingness to work with all factions within the PDP to achieve a common goal ahead of the governorship election.
