U.S. Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer has left her position in the administration of Donald Trump, the White House confirmed Monday, following multiple allegations related to misuse of authority.
Chavez-DeRemer is the third Cabinet official to exit in recent months, after the earlier departures of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Attorney General Pam Bondi.
In a statement posted on social media, Chavez-DeRemer expressed gratitude for her time in office, saying she was proud of efforts to support American workers and advance the administration’s labor agenda.
Her departure was announced by White House Communications Director Steven Cheung, who said she would be moving to a role in the private sector and praised her tenure as “phenomenal.”
Cheung added that Deputy Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling will serve as acting secretary.
The resignation was first reported by the news outlet NOTUS.
