Tinubu Approves Salary Increase for Nigerian Military Personnel

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a salary increase for members of the Nigerian Armed Forces as part of efforts to improve the welfare of military personnel.

Tinubu made the announcement during an interfaith breaking of fast with Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The President said the welfare and accommodation challenges faced by military personnel would receive priority attention from his administration, acknowledging the sacrifices made by soldiers defending the country.

“The interfaith breaking of fast together is a reflection of the diversity of our nation, but God has ordained this period to coincide with one another for self integration and self actualization,” Tinubu said.

He commended the leadership of the armed forces for their efforts in protecting Nigeria despite difficult conditions, noting that many personnel spend long periods away from their families while confronting security threats such as banditry and terrorism.

The President also referenced the Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, stating that recent approvals granted to the Nigerian Army were part of broader efforts to strengthen the military.

“My duty is to thank all of you on behalf of a grateful nation, knowing fully well that many times you are without your families, some are facing attacks from banditry and terrorists,” he said.

Tinubu assured service members that their sacrifices would not be forgotten and pledged continued support for their families.

“This nation will always be grateful to you and your sufferings will not be in vain. Your welfare, accommodation and many other opportunities that should be extended to your families will take first priority in our decisions,” the President added.

The announcement comes as the government seeks to boost morale within the armed forces amid ongoing security challenges across parts of the country.
