Friends and former co-stars are remembering actor Eric Dane following his death at age 53.
Dane, best known for his role on Grey’s Anatomy, revealed in April 2025 that he had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive and incurable neurological disorder that affects nerve cells controlling voluntary muscle movement.
A father of two, Dane had spoken publicly about his condition in recent months. During a panel appearance in December, he said he hoped to continue acting, including in roles that addressed ALS directly.
“It’s imperative that I share my journey with as many people as I can, because I don’t feel like my life is about me anymore,” he said at the time.
Actor Ashton Kutcher, a longtime friend, was among the first to pay tribute. In a post on X, Kutcher wrote, “The Franklin strip fanatics fantasy football league will miss Mr. Eric Dane. We know you’ll be watching from the booth. Miss you, buddy. Let’s keep fighting the fight to solve ALS.”
Additional tributes from colleagues and fans poured in across social media, remembering Dane for both his on-screen presence and his advocacy following his diagnosis.
