Adeniyi’s Reforms Reposition Customs for Efficiency — Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has said that the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), under the leadership of Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi, has undergone landmark reforms that have repositioned the agency for efficient and professional service delivery.

The President noted that the reforms have also improved revenue generation, strengthened community relations and enhanced Nigeria’s trade engagement with other countries.

Tinubu stated this in a congratulatory message to the Comptroller-General on his 60th birthday on Sunday.

In the message, the President praised Adeniyi’s reform initiatives, describing them as transformative for the Nigerian Customs Service. The commendation was contained in a statement issued by the Presidential Spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, on Sunday in Abuja.

According to Tinubu, Adeniyi’s leadership has placed the NCS on a path of global competitiveness and reinforced its institutional credibility.

The President rejoiced with the Comptroller-General on the milestone, celebrating decades of dedicated national service, discipline and commitment to excellence.

Tinubu also recalled that Adeniyi’s career achievements culminated in his election as Chairman of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) in June 2025, describing the feat as a major accomplishment for Nigeria.

He commended the Customs chief for projecting Nigeria and Africa positively on the global stage through inclusive, practical and charismatic leadership, noting that Adeniyi’s emergence at the WCO reflects international recognition of his competence and reform-driven agenda.

As Adeniyi marked his 60th birthday, the President prayed for renewed strength, good health and wisdom, while urging him to sustain his commitment to service and national development in the years ahead.
