2027 Polls a Fight for Nigeria’s Survival — Aisha Yesufu

Popular activist Aisha Yesufu has described the 2027 general elections as a defining moment for Nigerians, warning that the upcoming polls amount to a battle for the nation’s survival.

In a post on X, Yesufu cautioned citizens against waiting for miracles or external intervention to fix Nigeria’s problems, stressing that the responsibility for the country’s future rests squarely on Nigerians themselves.

She urged citizens to take ownership of the political process, explaining that what many often describe as a “miracle” is simply God preserving lives so people can actively participate in choosing their leaders.

According to her, Nigerians must stop shifting responsibility to divine intervention while failing to take action, and instead make conscious, informed, and deliberate political decisions that will shape the country’s future.

Yesufu warned that the struggle for Nigeria’s direction is already underway, describing the 2027 elections as a critical turning point that will determine the nation’s path.

She wrote:

“In case you missed my New Year message, no one is coming to save us.
It is we, Nigerians, that will save ourselves.
The miracle we pray for is God keeping us alive to be part of the decision makers on who the people are that will govern Nigeria.
The time for decision making is now. We should not abdicate our responsibility to God and refuse to do the needful.
2027 election is Nigerians fighting for their lives and it has already started.”

Her remarks add to the growing public discourse calling on citizens to become more politically conscious and actively engaged ahead of the next general elections.
