Palace Humble Liverpool in Carabao Cup, Arsenal Progress

Liverpool’s poor run of form continued on Wednesday night as they suffered a 3–0 home defeat to Crystal Palace, crashing out of the Carabao Cup in front of their own fans.

The result means the Reds have now won just one of their last seven matches across all competitions their worst slump since 1902.

Manager Arne Slot faces mounting criticism after fielding a largely youthful side in a competition many fans believed Liverpool should be challenging to win. The decision backfired, as Palace who have proven a tough opponent for the Reds in recent seasons dominated proceedings and sealed a comprehensive victory at Anfield.

The defeat marks another lost opportunity for silverware this season, with Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes also fading, as Arsenal continue their blistering form. The Gunners maintained their position at the competition with a 2–0 victory over Brighton, despite being without key defender William Saliba.

Meanwhile, the Carabao Cup quarter-final draw has set up some mouth-watering clashes:

Quarter-Final Fixtures:

  • Arsenal vs Crystal Palace
  • Cardiff City vs Chelsea
  • Manchester City vs Brentford
  • Newcastle United vs Fulham

Cardiff City remain the only non-Premier League side left in the competition after edging past Wrexham 2–1.
