Dangote Refinery Begins Direct Petrol Supply in 11 States Sept 15

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced that it will commence direct supply of petrol to retail outlets across the country from September 15.

The refinery disclosed this in a post on its official X page on Thursday, saying the scheme would launch in 11 states before gradually expanding nationwide.

According to the statement, petrol will be sold at an ex-gantry price of N820 per litre. For retail stations, the product will be delivered at N841 per litre in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, and Ekiti states, while Abuja, Delta, Rivers, Edo, and Kwara states will get supplies at N851 per litre.

“All petrol station owners nationwide are invited to register for free delivery and other benefits,” the refinery said.

The refinery had earlier, on June 15, announced the acquisition of 4,000 compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered tankers to strengthen its fuel distribution capacity. On June 29, it revealed that the scheme could save Nigerians over N1.7 trillion annually in distribution costs.

While analysts say the initiative could ease access to fuel for end users, some caution that it may pose challenges for players in the downstream sector.
