National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to uphold impartiality and transparency in the nationwide by-elections slated for Saturday, August 16, 2025.
In a goodwill message to ADC candidates vying for senatorial, House of Representatives, and state assembly seats, Mark urged the commission to conduct a process that would restore public trust in Nigeria’s electoral system.
The ADC is fielding candidates in by-elections across Anambra, Edo, Oyo, Taraba, Adamawa, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kano, Niger, and Ogun states.
Describing the ADC as a “child of necessity” created to offer Nigerians an alternative path to better governance, the former Senate president appealed to voters to give the party an opportunity to prove its worth.
Mark reminded INEC that “all eyes are on the commission” to correct past errors that have damaged its credibility, stressing that a credible poll could help redeem its reputation.
He commended ADC candidates for their courage and commitment, urging them and their supporters to obey electoral laws while remaining vigilant against any form of manipulation or intimidation.
Mark also called on security agencies to guarantee a level playing field for all contestants and to protect the will of the people without interference.
