Media mogul and politician Dele Momodu has launched a scathing attack on Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, accusing him of betrayal, abuse of power, and excessive ambition.
Speaking during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Momodu, a former media consultant to Wike, described the ex-Rivers State governor as “consumed by the demonic spirit of power” and “worse than those he once feared.”
“He treated me like royalty in 2022. But when Wike no longer needs you, he tramples on you. He is the classic case of the oppressed becoming the oppressor,” Momodu said.
Quoting Paulo Freire’s Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Momodu accused Wike of hypocrisy, recalling how Wike once revered Rotimi Amaechi, only to turn on him.
“He dined with Amaechi in my house in Accra. Today, he calls him names. That’s who Wike is.”
Momodu also alleged Wike’s indulgence in alcohol, saying the minister introduced him to Akeshi, a strong liquor.
On their fallout, Momodu cited the 2023 PDP presidential primaries, claiming Wike influenced delegate fees to be raised to $30,000, pricing him out of the race.
“Even if I sold my entire family, I wouldn’t have raised that,” he joked. “Wike publicly mocked me, asking what a ‘Twitter politician’ was doing in the race. That’s when I knew it was personal.”
Despite benefiting financially from his role as Wike’s consultant, Momodu insisted his team delivered real value.
“We trained him in public speaking and polished his image. But you can’t take the bush out of the man.”
He concluded by denying any lingering bitterness but emphasized that Wike does not represent the kind of leadership Nigeria needs.
“I won’t wrestle with a pig. But I must speak the truth. Wike is not the future Nigerians want.”
Wike is yet to respond, but the remarks highlight growing fractures within the PDP and Nigeria’s broader opposition camp as political tensions build ahead of the 2027 general election.
