President Bola Tinubu has named Ojukaye Flag Amachree as the new Director of Energy Security within the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). This appointment, which was disclosed by ONSA’s Head of Strategic Communications, Zakari Mijinyawa, signifies the government’s dedication to maintaining a stable, sustainable, and secure energy supply in Nigeria.
In the official statement, it was emphasized that this move highlights President Tinubu’s commitment to reinforcing energy security and resolving supply chain challenges. “In his new role, Amachree will oversee key national energy security initiatives aimed at enhancing energy security, as well as strengthen community participation in safeguarding Nigeria’s energy resources to support short and long-term energy sustainability,” the statement read.
Malam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, also extended his congratulations to Hon. Flag Amachree on his new role. As part of his responsibilities, Amachree will collaborate with various stakeholders, including government ministries, security agencies, energy sector regulators, international partners, and community leaders. His role is central to developing and implementing solutions that address Nigeria’s energy concerns.
The statement further detailed that Amachree, who holds degrees in Management and is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School, is well-equipped to lead the newly established Energy Security Directorate. This unit within ONSA is tasked with coordinating policies, safeguarding critical infrastructure, managing data, offering security coordination and risk advisory services, and building strategic alliances within the energy sector.
