Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has donated N100 million to support victims of the devastating flood in Maiduguri. The donation was announced in a press statement by Atiku’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, highlighting the former Vice President’s commitment to humanitarian efforts.

Atiku’s contribution comes after a visit to Maiduguri, where he expressed deep sympathy to the state government and the affected individuals. The flood, which displaced an estimated 500,000 people, represents a critical humanitarian crisis in the region.

Paul Ibe stated, “The Waziri’s generous gesture is a testament to his unwavering dedication to humanitarian efforts.” Alongside his donation, Atiku urged his friends and associates to join in contributing to the relief efforts. This action reflects his past humanitarian work, notably during the COVID-19 pandemic when he mobilized his network to address urgent needs.

Upon his arrival in Maiduguri, Atiku was welcomed by Senators Mohammed Tahir Monguno and Kaka Shehu Lawan. During a courtesy visit to Governor Babagana Zulum at the Government House, the donation was formally announced. Governor Zulum expressed his gratitude, acknowledging the support, saying, “The people of Borno deeply appreciate this show of solidarity.”
