Training for Olympic triathletes in Paris has been cancelled for a second consecutive day due to pollution in the River Seine. Both Sunday’s ‘familiarisation’ session and Monday’s training were called off after water quality tests indicated it was below acceptable standards.
A joint statement from Paris 2024 and World Triathlon, issued on Monday, emphasized that the “priority is the health of the athletes.” The men’s triathlon is scheduled to begin on Tuesday. If water quality does not improve by then, the event has two contingency days—August 1 and 2—built into the program.
