Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike announced that President Bola Tinubu has given approval for the construction of 40 houses dedicated to justices from the Court of Appeal, Federal High Court, and FCT High Courts.
The announcement came during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Abuja division of the Court of Appeal’s new court complex at Dakibiyu, Jabi District, Abuja, held on Wednesday.
Additionally, Minister Wike revealed that President Tinubu has also sanctioned the establishment of retirement homes for senior judicial officials, including the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, the Chief Judge of the FCT, the President of the National Industrial Court, and the President of the Court of Appeal.
“I can assure you, with the grace of God, the foundation of these homes will be laid this August, and by September next year, you will all receive the keys to your houses,” Wike affirmed.
In related infrastructure developments, Minister Wike recently inaugurated the first Taxi and Bus terminal in Kugbo, Karu District of Abuja on Tuesday. Highlighting the terminal’s importance in improving commuting conditions, especially during adverse weather conditions, he emphasized its role in enhancing public transportation infrastructure, thereby boosting security and productivity across the FCT.
