The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has clarified that there is no decision on zoning yet for the November 16 Ondo State governorship election.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Debo Ologunagba, emphasized this during a statement in Abuja on Thursday, following the NWC meeting with key stakeholders from Ondo State. Ologunagba affirmed that the NWC had not “zoned its ticket to any part or area of the state.”
He assured all governorship aspirants and PDP members in the state of “a level playing ground” in all party nomination processes and activities leading to the election.
Ologunagba also ensured that the nomination process and election activities would be “all-inclusive, free, fair and transparent” in accordance with the relevant party and electoral regulations.
Additionally, the NWC approved the convening of a special meeting to promote reconciliation and unity among party stakeholders in the state, involving key leaders such as Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, among others.
Ologunagba reiterated the importance of fidelity to the PDP and collaboration for the benefit of the party and the people of Ondo State. He urged INEC to ensure a “free, fair and credible” state election.
