Former House Of Reps Speaker, Ghali Na’abba, Passes Away

Ghali Umar Na’ Abba, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives and the 7th occupant of that position, has reportedly passed away. 
Ghali Na’abba is said to have died in the early hours of Wednesday in Abuja.
A family source, speaking to DAILY NIGERIAN, revealed that the former lawmaker succumbed to a brief illness while in an Abuja hospital.
Ghali Na’abba earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1979. Later, in 2004, he completed a postgraduate program on Leadership and Good Governance at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, in the United States.
Throughout his tenure as the Speaker of the House, Ghali played a significant role in leading various international parliamentary bodies during the turn of the millennium.
In 1998, he joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during its formative stage. Subsequently, he emerged as the party’s candidate in the April 1999 National Assembly election for the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency in Kano state, securing victory to represent the Federal constituency in the House of Representatives.
