The meeting will take place on Monday, October 31st, at the presidential villa in Abuja.
Garba Shehu, the President’s senior special assistant for media and publicity, confirmed this development in a statement on Sunday.
To accommodate the emergency meeting, the President has postponed the planned commissioning of the new Technology and Innovation Complex of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), which was originally scheduled for tomorrow.
A new date for the commissioning will be announced.
Shehu said in his statement that: “President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday meet with security chiefs in the nation’s capital, Abuja, to further review and strengthen security network in the country.
“The President, who was initially scheduled to commission the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) new Technology and Innovation Complex, will receive briefs from the security chiefs, and interject on areas that need more attention.
“The commissioning of the NASENI complex will hold on a later date.”
The emergency meeting comes just days after the US government has issued a warning about a possible terrorist attack in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
Following the US government’s warning, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia have all issued security alerts.
