According to reports, Umeadi won the presidential ticket in a special convention attended by factional party officials and members from the country’s six geographical zones at the party’s Katampe-Abuja national headquarters.
The embattled party’s 150 delegates affirmed Umeadi’s nomination via voice voting.
In response to the election, Victor Oye, a party’s factional national chairman, expressed confidence that Umeadi will be sworn in as President of Nigeria in 2023.
The party has been divided between Edozie Njoku and Victor Oye, both of whom claim to be the party’s substantive national chairman.
Recall that Njoku was dismissed as APGA national chairman by a lower court in Jigawa State and then lost his appeal.
He then took his quest for justice to the Supreme Court, which, according to him, subsequently acknowledged him as the party’s national chairman after requesting that the supreme court reconsider its error of October 14, 2021 ruling.
