Mr. Osita Okechukwu, Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, has spent his second night in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Okechukwu, who was detained on Saturday on allegations of conspiracy, abuse of office, and misappropriation of N1.3 billion in public funds, has yet to be released.
He had gone to the anti-graft agency’s headquarters in Abuja at 1.30pm on Saturday to honor an invitation, but was detained.
A senior official confirmed this to Punch correspondent on Sunday that the APC chieftain was still being questioned by agents about his involvement in the crime.
“He’s still with us,” the source said at 7:15 p.m. on Sunday.
Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC’s spokesperson, was unavailable for comment.
