Inter Milan have been crowned Serie A champions after a 2-0 win over Parma at the San Siro on Sunday, sealing their 21st league title.
Goals from Marcus Thuram just before halftime and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the 80th minute ensured the victory, with Lautaro Martínez providing the assist for the second goal after returning from injury.
The result extended Inter’s lead to 12 points over Napoli, mathematically confirming them as champions with games to spare. Fans inside the San Siro erupted in celebration at full-time, while thousands also gathered outside Milan’s Duomo cathedral to mark the triumph.
It is Inter’s second Serie A title in three seasons and their 21st overall, placing them second only to Juventus in Italy’s all-time league standings. The club now has the chance to complete a domestic double when they face Lazio in the Coppa Italia final on May 13 in Rome.
The triumph marks a strong turnaround under coach Cristian Chivu, who took charge last summer following Simone Inzaghi’s departure. Inter rebounded impressively from last season’s narrow title loss and Champions League final defeat, re-establishing themselves as Italy’s dominant force.
Captain Lautaro Martínez praised the team’s resilience, noting the difficulty of rebuilding after a disappointing end to the previous campaign.
With the Serie A title secured, Inter now turn their attention to finishing the season with more silverware.
