Governor Francis Nwifuru has appealed to residents of Ebonyi State to forgive the shortcomings of his administration and those of elected lawmakers, while urging continued support for the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor made the appeal on Sunday during a democracy thanksgiving service held at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki to commemorate the third anniversary of his administration.
Addressing worshippers, political stakeholders, government officials and religious leaders at the event, Nwifuru acknowledged that both his administration and lawmakers representing the state may have made mistakes while serving the people.
“Please forgive us; forgive me and the National Assembly members and the House of Assembly members. Forgive our shortcomings and vote for us again,” Nwifuru said.
Reflecting on his three years in office, the governor expressed gratitude to God for what he described as the achievements recorded under his administration.
He noted that governance remains a continuous learning process that requires humility, dedication and understanding from the public.
Nwifuru admitted that no government can claim perfection but assured residents that his administration remains committed to improving service delivery, expanding infrastructure and providing more democratic dividends across the state.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to sustain ongoing development programmes and initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
The thanksgiving service attracted several political leaders and stakeholders, including former governors David Umahi and Martin Elechi, as well as serving senators and government officials.
