Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has signed an Executive Order restricting the movement of motorcycles in the state from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am.
The decision was made following an emergency meeting of the Security Council, and the order was presented by the state’s Attorney General, Abdul’aziz Sani SAN, and subsequently assented to by the governor at the Government House in Gusau, the state capital.
According to Sulaiman Bala Idris, the Governor’s spokesperson, the Executive Order No. 07 of 2024 aims to enhance security measures and combat challenges such as banditry and other social vices.
The restriction is intended to safeguard lives and property by curbing movements that could pose security risks during nighttime hours.
Effective immediately, the order mandates that motorcycles are prohibited from operating on any road in Zamfara State between 8:00 pm and 6:00 am. Security agencies have been directed to enforce the order and arrest anyone found violating it.
Furthermore, the Attorney General has been authorized to prosecute individuals who disobey the restriction.
This initiative underscores the state government’s proactive approach to enhancing security and ensuring public safety in Zamfara State.
