Wike Revokes PDP National Secretariat Land Over Unpaid Ground Rent

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revoked the land allocated to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national secretariat in Abuja due to unpaid ground rent spanning nearly two decades.

A revocation notice, dated March 13, 2025, was issued by the Director of Land Administration in the FCT, Chijioke Nwankwoeze.

According to the notice, the PDP failed to pay its annual ground rent from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025, despite multiple public notices by the FCT Administration urging all land allottees to settle outstanding bills.

The letter referenced Section 28, Subsection 5 (a) and (b) of the Land Use Act, stating that the opposition party had violated the terms of its right of occupancy.

“The revocation is in view of your continued contravention of the terms and conditions of the grant of the Right of Occupancy by failing to pay the annual ground rents due on the property for twenty (20) years,” the notice read.

The FCT Administration had issued multiple reminders through national newspapers and electronic media since 2023, warning defaulters of potential revocation.
