The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that public criticism of ongoing demolition activities and enforcement of ground rent will not deter him from pursuing what he believes is right for the territory.
Speaking on the matter, Wike emphasized his resolve to remain focused despite the complaints.
“People must complain, but I can tell you such complaints cannot distract us. I am much focused, and since it is part of our job, we will continue to do what is necessary,” he stated.
The minister reaffirmed his commitment to demolishing illegal structures and shanties across the FCT, stressing that the work is aimed at the greater good.
“Forget about what people say about demolition; demolition must go ahead. We demolish shanties, we demolish illegal buildings. It doesn’t matter what anybody will say,” Wike remarked.
He expressed confidence that his actions would eventually be appreciated, noting, “At the end of the day, they will still come back to say, ‘you did a good job.’”
Wike urged his team to remain undeterred by public opinion and to stay focused on delivering results for the majority. “Don’t bother about what people say, be focused, and at the end of the day, you will achieve results for a greater number of people, not for a few individuals,” he concluded.
