Trump Launches Website Blaming China Lab Leak for COVID-19, Targets Fauci, Biden, and WHO

In a renewed effort to shape public perception of the COVID-19 pandemic, Republican President Donald Trump has launched a new website under the official White House banner that promotes the theory that the virus originated from a lab leak in China.

The site, which went live on Friday, also levels pointed criticism at former Democratic President Joe Biden, longtime U.S. health official Dr. Anthony Fauci, and the World Health Organization (WHO), portraying them as key figures responsible for what it describes as a failed pandemic response.

Taking a skeptical stance toward widely implemented public health measures such as mask mandates, lockdowns, and social distancing, the platform challenges the scientific consensus that guided much of the global effort to contain the virus.

Trump, who began the formal process to withdraw the United States from the WHO shortly after taking office in January, has cited dissatisfaction with the organization’s handling of the pandemic. At the time, the U.S. was the WHO’s largest source of funding.

So far, neither Fauci, Biden, nor WHO officials have responded publicly to the claims made on the site.

In an earlier controversial move, Trump ended government-funded security protection for Dr. Fauci despite ongoing threats to the former health official, stating that Fauci should “pay for his own security.”

The origins of COVID-19 remain the subject of ongoing debate. In January, the CIA indicated it assessed a lab-related incident as a more plausible cause of the outbreak than natural transmission—but qualified the finding as one made with “low confidence.” Both theories continue to be investigated.

China, meanwhile, has rejected the lab leak theory and insists it has supported scientific efforts to trace the virus’s origins. Beijing has accused the U.S. of politicizing the issue, particularly through the involvement of intelligence agencies. Chinese authorities have dismissed the lab theory as lacking scientific credibility.

As controversy over the pandemic’s origins and management endures, Trump’s new digital initiative signals a broader political strategy aimed at influencing both policy conversations and the upcoming election narrative.
