Traditional Institutions Key to Unity and Development, Says Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has underscored the critical role of traditional institutions in promoting national unity, governance, and economic development.

Speaking at his Lagos residence after hosting the Awujale of Ijebuland, His Royal Majesty Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, Ogbagba II, the president reiterated his administration’s dedication to collaborating with traditional leaders to address Nigeria’s challenges.

“Now more than ever, the role of our traditional institutions is crucial for fostering national cohesion, governance, and economic development at various levels,” Tinubu stated in a post on his official X handle.

The meeting with the Awujale was described as productive, focusing on actionable solutions to national issues. Discussions emphasized building a unified national identity rooted in shared values to drive progress and prosperity.

Tinubu expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating, “We discussed constructive solutions to Nigeria’s challenges, emphasizing partnerships and cultivating a strong national identity. This identity should embody our values as a Nation while fostering progress and prosperity for all citizens.”

He added that such engagements are pivotal to realizing his vision of a stronger, more united, and prosperous Nigeria.
