Tinubu’s Reforms Fuel Economic Resurgence Across States — Presidency

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms are triggering a wave of transformation across Nigeria’s 36 states, according to his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Dare.

In a detailed statement reflecting on the administration’s progress, Dare said the Renewed Hope Agenda has evolved from a political mantra into a nationwide movement, with subnational governments now empowered to drive development and impact at the grassroots.

He cited critical reforms such as fuel subsidy removal, exchange rate unification, and efforts to restructure Nigeria’s debt profile, noting that they are helping to stabilise the macroeconomic environment, restore fiscal space, and rebuild investor confidence.

“These are not just policy outcomes,” Dare stated, “but the foundations of a new federalism built on economic coordination, local autonomy, and shared prosperity.”

He noted that during a recent retreat in Benin City, governors under the All Progressives Congress (APC) endorsed the president’s reforms, highlighting increased progress in infrastructure, digital governance, capital inflows, and procurement systems.

Dare attributed much of this progress to enhanced fiscal transfers to states, which have empowered governors to implement targeted programmes in agriculture, youth employment, SME support, and social protection.

He said APC-led states are now witnessing growing momentum in public-private partnerships and improvements in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, with investor interest on the rise.

On national security, Dare highlighted Tinubu’s grassroots-focused strategy, with an emphasis on community-based intelligence and policing, backed by the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF).

The presidency also emphasised the need for local government reforms, describing them as essential to ensuring councils are responsive and aligned with Tinubu’s people-first governance model.

In a political context, Dare described the recent alignment of Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno and Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori with the administration’s agenda as signs of a growing national consensus around Tinubu’s vision.

He further described the smooth resignation of APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje as evidence of the ruling party’s institutional maturity and internal cohesion.

While acknowledging ongoing economic and security challenges, the presidency assured Nigerians that the reforms though tough are already producing tangible results.

“With continued support from governors and the Nigerian people,” Dare concluded, “the journey to a more secure, equitable, and prosperous Nigeria is well underway.”
