President Bola Tinubu announced significant advancements in combating terrorism and banditry in Nigeria. He declared, “On the security front, I am happy to announce to you, my compatriots, that our administration is winning the war on terror and banditry.” The president reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eliminating threats from Boko Haram, banditry, kidnappings, and other forms of violent extremism.
Over the past year, Nigerian troops have reportedly neutralized more than 300 commanders from Boko Haram and bandit groups across various regions, including the Northeast and Northwest. Tinubu noted that peace has been restored to numerous communities in the North, facilitating the return of thousands of displaced individuals. However, he stressed that the fight is ongoing, referring to it as “unfinished business” that security agencies are determined to resolve swiftly.
He expressed optimism that restoring peace would allow farmers to return to their fields, ultimately boosting food production and reducing prices. “I promise you, we shall not falter on this,” he assured the nation.
