Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima at the graduation ceremony for Course 32 of the National Defence College in Abuja, Tinubu detailed his administration’s strategies for addressing pressing issues such as economic instability and crude oil theft.
Tinubu highlighted several key initiatives, including the introduction of a new national minimum wage of ₦70,000. This increase is designed to benefit both civilian workers and personnel in the Nigerian armed forces and security agencies. “Our country faces numerous socio-economic challenges, and as a government, we are attuned to the needs of our people.
We will continue to take proactive steps to address these issues,” he stated.
The President also discussed ongoing efforts to combat crude oil theft, emphasizing the administration’s collaboration with security agencies to address this critical issue and ensure economic stability. “Our border-local dependent forces and other security agencies will tackle the menace of crude oil theft promptly to ensure economic stability,” Tinubu asserted.
In addition, Tinubu underscored the administration’s commitment to advancing innovation in the mining sector. He announced that partnerships with international entities are being explored to enhance the sector’s potential for national development and security.
The President praised the military’s contributions under his leadership and committed to ensuring they are adequately funded and equipped. Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu, Commandant of the National Defence College, reported that 111 participants successfully completed the course.
The graduating class included 35 members from the Nigerian Army, 19 from the Navy, 12 from the Air Force, five police officers, and three from the Department of State Services, with additional participants from the Nigeria Customs Service, National Judicial Council, Ministry of Defence, and Defence Intelligence Agency.
